Another year, another Tough Mudder… or two. June 18, my team and I got up bright and early to hit the Mount Snow course while it was still clean. It was beautiful and sunny and not 50 degrees for once, we were wearing our matching team gear feeling pretty legit, and after we got the awkward hip grinding “warm up” out of the way, we were off.
The highlights of the day were the new Blockness Monster. The team work on that one was really fun and the water felt great. We loved Pyramid Scheme as always. We adopted a single Mudder there who needed some help, and she stuck with us for Everest too. My favorites of the day were nailing Funky Monkey and getting the swing in King of the Jungle. Not so great was face planting in Electroshock Therapy.

It’s been a rough year with the political climate the way it is. Social media has clearly made people raving lunatics these days as well. I’m not sure how to fully sum up my thoughts about this in relation to my day on this course, but all I could think while encouraging strangers, offering a helping hand, taking a helping hand, or joking around was that we were all on the same team for this one day putting our opinions and beliefs aside just to enjoy the beauty of Vermont, exhausting ourselves on the mountain, and enjoying the camaraderie.
Next up: Tough Mudder Great Northeast. Getting my pink headband!
